In the world of Manhattans, the glass overflows with sophistication…

Why we like it

There are many possible name origins for the first ‘modern’ cocktail.

Some believe it was initially crafted at the Manhattan Club in New York City, while others have anachronistically applied NYC’s 212 area code (2 parts whiskey + 1 part sweet vermouth + 2 dashes of bitters) as a guideline for the cocktail’s foundational recipe.

Regardless of its naming origins, there are countless Manhattan combinations, mostly dependent on personal preference.

For a spicier, drier drink, choose rye; for a smoother, sweeter Manhattan, go with bourbon.
It’s really up to you!

Preparation Notes

Chilling a glass takes just a few minutes.

Just before preparing a cocktail, add ice to the glass, fill it with water, and let it sit while you mix the drink.

Empty the glass into the sink, give it a slight shake, and then pour in your cocktail.

And for a simple yet flavourful garnish, enhance your Manhattan by dropping 1-3 cherries on a toothpick into the glass.
